I finished the CamSur Marathon in 5:18 (Garmin / chip time). Still no sub-5 for me, but a new PR nevertheless (by the skin of my teeth!). Still, I am very satisfied because I still made very good progress in a number of ways.
Details to follow in a full-length post. For now, I will enjoy a post-race meal with wifey. Have to be in the airport in an hour!
Congratulations to all finishers!

Julius, congratulations on the PR! The sub five will happen believe me. Continue to believe in yourself. Will see you soon!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a job well done, Julius! That's a tight schedule you got there. Take care!
ReplyDelete@Wayne, thanks a lot! See you in Manila in November!
ReplyDelete@Sir Arthur - I have yet to nail the bitch hahaha! Maybe it'll happen in Singapore in December. You take care as well.
ReplyDeletewow! congratulations bro! you're getting faster and stronger! keep it up!
ReplyDeleteJulius, Congratulations and Job well done. A pb is still a pb. Have you done any serious speed sessions leading up to the marathon or LSD runs with bursts of Goal Marathon Pacing? Despite, you are getting better and better. So 3 marathons in the bag. Awesomeness! As to your last comment on my blog, you are very funny indeed. (ahem) I would only post something if I know it is certain. Run Julius Run! Take care and enjoy the post race chill time. Now your serious training begins! (ahem) Take care and safe Travels back home man.
ReplyDelete@Jet - Thanks a lot! Pare, hope you won't mind if I tag along for some of your team's BDM training runs one of these days.
ReplyDelete@Kenley - Thanks! To be honest, I never do my LSDs at my target race pace. When I do my LSDs prior to a marathon, all I aim for is mileage build-up and to condition my knees and legs for continuous use for over four hours. If I tweak my Galloway strategy a bit more, the sub-5 will happen. I just believe it.
ReplyDeleteAs for your ticket to the "big dance" - just wait, man. It will come!
Julius - I am curious about the Galloway strategy that you are using? I have heard of that! I am glad that works for you. Do you run the first half or 20 miles and then use it or use it through out? I have a resource that you might be able to use and enjoy. Try out marathontalk.com and listen to the podcasts. You can listen via directly, itunes, or download mp3. You will get an array of helpful info on not just Marathoning, but running in general. You should at this time probably target episode 24. hehehe. Let me know what you think man.
